Houston Slapshot Scholarship 2026: Score Your Future!
Calling all young Houston hockey players and future sports industry leaders — it’s time to lace up, level up, and shoot for success! The Houston Slapshot Scholarship, proudly presented by Hockey Day in Houston and the Hockey Players in Business (HPIB) Houston Chapter, is back for 2026! This year, Hockey Day in Houston continues its partnership with The Howe Foundation — founded in honor of Mr. Hockey®, Gordie Howe, and Mrs. Hockey®, Colleen Howe. The Foundation has once again pledged a $25,000 matching donation to help fuel the dreams of Houston’s next generation of hockey players and women in sports.
🎯 Our Mission The Howe Foundation is dedicated to sharing the lifelong passion for sports with everyone, focusing on two core initiatives: Kids First: Inspired by Mr. Hockey®, the Foundation helps kids get into the game — from taking their first strides on the ice to competing at elite levels and pursuing higher education — regardless of whether they go pro. Women in the Business of Sports: In the spirit of Mrs. Hockey®, the Foundation empowers women to advance in the sports industry through education, mentorship, and leadership opportunities. At the Howe Foundation, we believe sports can shape lives, build communities, and inspire generations to carry forward values that last a lifetime.
🧠 About the Scholarship Hockey teaches discipline, teamwork, and resilience — the same traits that drive academic and career success. Whether you’re a rising high school senior or a college student, if you’re a passionate Houston-area hockey player or a female pursuing a career in sports, this scholarship is for you! The Hockey Day in Houston and HPIB Houston Chapter Scholarship Program will award up to $1,509 to outstanding applicants who demonstrate: ● Academic Excellence – Show us your dedication in the classroom. ● Community Involvement – Highlight your impact, especially in the hockey community. ● Financial Need – Share how this scholarship will make a meaningful difference. ● Commitment to Growth – Beyond financial support, recipients become part of the HPIB Houston family, gaining mentorship opportunities from professional athletes and business leaders who understand your journey.
