Partnership Announcement

The Inter-Scholastic Hockey League (ISHL) & Asasyn Mental Performance (AMP)

Houston’s Inter-Scholastic Hockey League (ISHL) has been a staple in the Texas hockey community for decades, developing athletes, building tradition, and shaping the future for our young men and women through High School hockey. Today, we are proud to announce a new partnership between the ISHL and Asasyn Mental Performance (AMP) — this will bring world-class mental performance training directly to Houston’s High School hockey athletes.

Why This Partnership Matters

Athletes spend countless hours training their bodies. They work on improving cardio, they work on improving strength, they skate, they shoot, they pass, and they practice their skills daily. But too often, the most important factor is left out: the mind. Training the mind in how to be calm, how to react, how to be confident, how to forget and move on are all components of being a mentally sound athlete.

This partnership ensures ISHL players will now gain access to proven mental performance systems that build:

  • Confidence that holds under pressure.
  • Focus that survives distractions.
  • Resilience after mistakes.
  • Leadership and communication skills that elevate the team.

About Asasyn Mental Performance

Led by Carl Sasyn, a veteran hockey official with over 25 years of experience in the AHL, OHL, NCAA, and national championships, AMP has become a trusted leader in developing athletes, officials, and professionals. Carl’s methods are practical, proven, and built to give players the edge when it matters most.

Together, ISHL and AMP are investing in the future of Houston High School hockey players. This partnership is about more than the wins and losses — it is about preparing athletes with the tools they will carry for life: focus, confidence, resilience, and leadership.

Because great players train their bodies. Champions train their minds.

Carl will set up a 1-hour session per team (parents included) and give a behind the curtain look at Mental Performance. The session will be documented and subsequently provided to the Teams for reference.   This meeting is mandatory due to its informative content.
